Intro to Permaculture Workshop, April 19 & 20

This workshop engages participants in developing design skills.

High Park Children's Garden

I’m thrilled to have partnered with the Toronto Botanical Garden on this revamped two-day workshop.

Over our two days together you’ll learn (or revisit) permaculture principles and learn how you can actually apply them. This workshop will help you to begin grounding and integrating those YouTube videos you may have watched about food forests and swales.

You’ll use the principles to design your own gardens and projects (But it’s not all about gardens – you can design anything!). You’ll work on developing your own practice, and be able to ask questions and receive feedback on your design ideas and projects. You’ll learn about urban, rural and social permaculture projects, and we’ll explore and then work on applying “designing-it-forward” together on a project you choose.

Topics and hands-on activities include:

  • Permaculture principles, approaches and techniques;
  • Urban, rural and social permaculture projects;
  • How to use permaculture to design gardens, personal “life” projects, community projects, and livelihoods;
  • A personal / group project design project – with opportunities to apply learning and receive feedback.
  • We’ll have some garden fun, too!

This workshop is suitable for people with a range of gardening experience and/or exposure to permaculture.

Register here, or contact Maggie Janik for more info at adulted@torontobotanicalgarden.ca and 416-397-1362.

Public $250; Members of the TBG $200. (membership is $45, so why not become a member?!)

Bonus: free seed ball kit to all who register!

There is a Field Trip (details tba) on Sat June 16th (10-2 pm). Workshop participants take 30% off the Field Trip if signed up by the end of this workshop.
