We’re excited to share this interactive Permaculture in Ontario Map that lets you connect with some amazing projects and people. The map contains details on each project, including pictures, descriptions, locations, and project contacts.
The map was produced using permaculture design principles with community input and leadership. It is a living document that changes as new submissions come in. Learn more about how the map was generated and some early patterns that we’re seeing here. Read about whether you should take the survey here, and take the survey to get on the map here.
Note: Not all people identify as permaculturalists. The survey/map in this early stage is currently open to people doing a diverse range of regenerative agriculture and cultural projects and work that aligns with permaculture principles.
Here are some of the other terms people use to describe work that frequently aligns with permaculture principles:
agroecology; indigenous farming; traditional farming; natural farming; earth agriculture; biodynamics; forest gardening; restoration ecology; community development; restorative economics; social and ecological justice; community building; green building; appropriate technologies; community education and wellness; and culture stewardship and repair, etc.
The map and survey will continue to evolve, and we are actively seeking people to help make them better tools. Feedback on ways we can improve the survey, map, or who we should reach out to can be sent here. We have many great ideas coming in already. If you’re interested in helping the team that is working to improve the survey or map and/or to work on reaching out to those who are missing, you can also send us an expression of interest here.
